Systemic Nature of Musculoskeletal Health & Performance
Dr. Mishra's Presentation at the Biologics Association Summit
Human Intuition in the Age of AI Podcast / Dare To Be Vital Book
Today, I presented at the Biologics Association Summit in Washington DC. This is an elite meeting of orthopedic surgeons and other physicians dedicated to advancing the field of biologic treatments like platelet rich plasma (PRP) for musculoskeletal injuries and disorders.
My presentation today focused on a new concept I call the Better Biologics Flywheel.
This flywheel considers weight, muscle and hormone status as primary components of any treatment protocol. We reviewed some staggering new data about how these three parameters effect common problems such as arthritis and tendonitis.
Here is one important piece of new data:
Being obese increases the risk of shoulder pain by 17.5 times. (See slide below)
We also talked about how low muscle mass accelerates arthritis. (See image below)
We concluded with why it is so important to optimize estrogen, testosterone and vitamin D levels in all patients with musculoskeletal complaints. Vitamin D levels are especially important to evaluate in knee osteoarthritis patients because higher levels result in lower pain scores. (See graph below)
Low Vitamin D is also associated with an 81% increased risk of sustaining an ACL tear. See graphic below:

It was an honor to be able to present my new approach to the “biologic” treatment of arthritis and tendonitis to an elite international audience.
